2019: That's A Wrap
It was a big year at RNDSQR from taking part in community events and building new partnerships to launching multiple projects and welcoming homeowners to their new RNDSQR homes. We couldn’t have made any of it happen without you - our extended family. Take a look at our year in review below.
New Projects
In February we launched CY33 with an overhaul of our Sales Centre, then our construction team broke ground on site in July with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Our coworking venture with The Commons, No Island, opened in June in Inglewood. April brought an exciting new project; our David D. Oughton site with CMLC in the city’s Southeast. Our new subscription living model, RNDSQR LIFE, and our second LIFE building, SC28, were announced. Lastly, we shared three new projects; General Block in Ramsay (more information coming soon), 90 Alexander in Winnipeg, and RNDSQR Block in Inglewood was launched for engagement.
New Partnerships
We paired up with Team Sam, our new realty partners of RE/MAX House in the Fall. We introduced two new community partners Yoga Nova Studio and Vine Arts to RNDSQR LIFE. This December we collaborated with artist duo The WKNDRS on The Comfort Zone for our Market Collective installation.
Completed Projects + Move-Ins
Our team finished nine townhomes including: ML32, ML28, AL48, NG20, KL26, AL50, CB05, KL29 and WH19. We sold out of five projects and welcomed our new homeowners to their RNDSQR homes. In the Spring, our new pavilion structure was built at our Sales Centre deck designed by 5468796 Architecture.
Awards
We were honoured to take home the BILD Award for Multi-Family Builder of the Year (Small Volume), Best New Design - Established Area for PEAKS + PLAINS Unit 1 (1300 Sq Ft +), GROW Unit 303 (700 to 899 Sq Ft), and Best New Townhome Style - Established Area for MP05. LIFE’s SC28 received an honourable mention under MUDA’s Housing Innovation category and IW9 won the Canadian Architecture Award to finish the year off.
Publications
RNDSQR was featured in the Globe and Mail, the Calgary Herald, Calgary Home Living, and Avenue Magazine this year. CY33 and the Artist Campaign were shared numerous times across the country in publications such as the Calgary Herald, Kelowna Now, the Windsor Star and more. Our Bankview project GROW was written about twice in the Calgary Herald.
Events
We took part in Market Collective twice in 2019, once in the Spring with a mini show suite, and this December with The Comfort Zone. In July we hosted a Movie Night at our Sales Centre pavilion featuring Steven Spielberg’s E.T. We joined Marda Loop’s annual Marda Gras in August and our team walked in the Pride Parade in September! The final CY33 murals were selected by a panel at the CY33 Artist Talk in September at cSPACE after months of public voting and viewing. Local shops varying from vintage goods to clothing and skin care brands hosted summer pop-ups at the Sales Centre Deck space and we launched our winter vendor pop-up series with out first tenant vendor, The Nines.
Team
We added a few new friendly faces to our team, kept up with our regular TGIF’s and team building events, and hosted our annual team retreat to Kelowna in late June.
Thanks for coming along for the ride with RNDSQR this year! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, see you in 2020.
